Story Submission by Austin, Age 17

I’ve battled with depression on and off throughout my life. One and a half years ago I met my good friend Euan, who I’ve never gotten to meet in person due to us living countries apart. Euan has also battled with depression for his whole life, but much more severely than myself due to a disorder he developed called Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (he sees visual snow, has severe anxiety attacks and constantly shifting visuals). Euan slowly brought me into the world of cars, more precisely BMW E30s with his own 316i. About one year ago I bought my first E30 and can honestly say that it has brought me more joy (and quite a bit of heartbreak) than anyone can ever imagine. Nothing calms me down more than going out for a drive and working on my car. Euan and I decided to take our love of cars to the next level by creating an automotive-related website and it has been one of the best things I have ever done. I now not only get to be the head of a community of like-minded people, but I also get people coming to me when they need someone to help them out with whatever it is they need and it’s amazing. Thank you so much for creating this movement, it’s honestly one of the best things I have ever seen and I’ll always be a supporter. Keep doing what you’re doing! It’s awesome and it really means a lot to us all.

It’s good that you are keeping yourself busy with working on your E30 and the website; it takes the mind off things. HPPD, the term never came across to me until today. It seems unique and potentially dangerous under certain circumstances. I hope you and your mate Euan continue to manage the automative website :)

    Eric.
