#IAMDRIVEN: World Suicide Prevention Day 2015

World Suicide Prevention Day brings to light one of the largest causes of premature and unnecessary death – suicide. We created #IAMDRIVEN to bring attention to the importance of suicide prevention, challenge the stigma surrounding suicide, and to give hope to people vulnerable to it. Leading up to WSPD on September 10 we want you to answer our question: “What drives you?”.

Our message is simple: You can blame your circumstances on fate or bad luck, or you can face it and tackle it head on. The rest of your life is being shaped right now. The rest of your life is a long time. The rest of your life can change. But the rest of your life starts with your first step.

So with all of your dreams and the choices you make, what’s driving you to become the person you want to be?

Get involved with #IAMDRIVEN in any of the following ways:
1. Submit your #IAMDRIVEN entry

Download and print an #IAMDRIVEN card, and tell us what you drive and what drives you. Print extras and ask your friends and family to share their responses, too!

Then, take a photo of your completed response and submit it to us at: iamdriven[at]carsforhope.com.au or even better, post it on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Don’t forget to tag @carsforhope and include the #IAMDRIVEN hashtag!

We’ll be posting your responses to social media leading up to WSPD and throughout September, so start submitting!

2. Wear an #IAMDRIVEN sticker and start a conversation

By purchasing an #IAMDRIVEN sticker and wearing it, you are showing others that you support us and those living with mental health. Wear one on your car and help spread the word about #IAMDRIVEN and WSPD 2015 by starting a conversation about mental health.

3. Join us at our #IAMDRIVEN End Of Month Meet

This year we’re having an #IAMDRIVEN EOMM on Thursday, September 24 at Sydney Dragway, and we’re aiming for a massive turnout of supporters of WSPD. By attending, you’ll be helping to give a collective voice to those living with the experience of suicide and challenge the stigma associated with it. We’ll also be hosting activities and selling merchandise on the night, so make sure you come down and say hello!
